Achieving proper indoor air quality (IAQ) has historically been achieved by bringing in the right amount of outside air. This presents a couple of challenges. First, it is expensive to condition outdoor air: cooling and dehumidifying in the summer and heating in the winter. Second, outdoor air is not always clean, so clean air can be in limited supply. Third, there is heightened concern about transmission of viruses and bacteria through building ventilation.
One alternative to outside air is the scrubbing of return air – removal of dust, pathogens, VOCs, CO2 and other contaminants. In this webinar, we will review the nature of these contaminants and examine several scrubbing techniques including air filters, UVGI and gas-phase air cleaning.
We will finish up by introducing a few examples of innovative air scrubbing technologies. Finally, we will leave you with a few air scrubbing resources.
